Albany Lakes Civic Park

The Albany Lakes Civic Domain.

An urban oasis, this 6.4ha Albany park has an art bridge, water features, an outdoor staging area and two large stormwater lakes. The park also perfect for runners and the ideal site for the Summer Series.

There are approximately 17,000 tree species planted in the area, including totara, flax cultivars for weaving, apple, plum and olive trees, and native food sources such as karaka and kahikatea. Dotterels and frogs have also been making a home in the park.

Albany Lakes Civic Park is located next to the North Harbour Stadium and Westfield Albany. You can access it from Mercari Way, Coliseum Drive or Appian Way.

Getting There

No more than 20 minutes from Auckland Central, the ever-evolving landscape of Albany is home to the Summer Series. Easily accessible by car the Northern Highway comes off 2 minutes from the Albany Lakes Civic Park. Parking can be found on the roads around the park although be sure not to park on the grass as you can incur an impressive fine!

The Albany Bus Station is within easy walking distance if the bus is the easiest for you. For more information and timetables, go to the Auckland Transport website. As race day comes around, be sure to keep an eye on the website too for any service changes.

There is limited parking available on Civic Crescent and further street parking over towards the bus station. The most convenient and plentiful parking, however, it available within Westfield Albany mall, which is right across the road from the race venue. For the best parking, follow the signs for Event Cinema or Farmers and you’ll have a 2-minute walk to the race venue.

Important! Westfield Albany mall has parking zones which are rigorously enforced. Taking part in the event does not absolve you of the need to park appropriately. When you arrive, look out for FOUR HOUR parking spots. This will give you ample time to enjoy the event and even take in some shopping before returning to your car. If you park in a one hour spot you are very, very likely to receive a parking ticket.
